The Gaming Giant Hires Apex Legends Developer to Boost Struggling Hero Shooter Ambitious Title

The renowned publisher has appointed a seasoned producer from the creators of Apex Legends to lead the studio crew at their internal studio, which is currently crafting the forthcoming third-person roguelike extraction-shooter known as this innovative game.

Management Transition Follows Lukewarm Response

The new appointee takes on the leadership position at the development studio following the exit of former leader Michael Condrey, who was reportedly let go due to the game's lackluster initial reveal last fall.

On Wednesday, the company's top executive David Ismailer notified team members about this strategic move through an official communication, which stressed that early feedback sessions had indicated the requirement for a more defined direction.

The president noted that the developers is now overhauling Project Ethos with a revised vision, aiming to better meet player expectations.

Trend of Strategic Acquisitions

The news mirrors a comparable step taken by the publisher in the summer, when they hired Rod Fergusson from Blizzard to contribute to the beloved franchise development group.

Here is the full content from the president's memo:

I understand you all just finished your meeting - I trust you’re as thrilled as I am with the recent updates. Last time I sent you all a update, I expressed the following: “I am confident in this group. You all are some of the most dedicated and creative creators we have had the pleasure to work with - and we’re eager for that partnership to continue.”

With your dedication and versatility, especially over the past twelve months, you continue to prove that.

The gamer responses from last autumn’s the game playtest was revealing. It validated the promise of a action-packed game but told us we still had improvements to make. It uncovered the necessity for a clearer brand.

It has been motivating to see how far you’ve advanced. You embraced the criticism to mind and overhauled Project ETHOS with a revitalized goal - one that’s ready to achieve its ambition to our fans.

The belief in this project grows every day. To advance the outstanding advancement you’ve made, I am thrilled to introduce the new hire as the latest Studio Head of 31st Union. After several months of conversations, he comes aboard us on the specified date.

His guidance and expertise in the competitive gaming genre is extensive, having devoted the past decade and a half developing and overseeing some of the most recognizable franchises in gaming, including Call of Duty: Black Ops, and lately, Apex Legends.

Please join me in receiving him soon. We are all eager to persist observing the evolution of the game in the weeks to follow.

David

Game Information and Concept

Project Ethos was announced in last year together with a early access event. Initially, 31st Union described the title as a "no-cost, third-person perspective action-packed experience and an exciting step forward on the category."

"Build your perfect run—or die trying—in this 3rd-person action shooter! Build your hero in live gameplay to match your preferred approach," the official summary reads. "Challenge the competition with unique powers, challenges, and tests that shift every session. Do you withdraw carefully with your hard-earned loot? Alternatively aim high, gamble everything, and pray your team can secure victory? The option is in your hands."

Project Ethos has not yet received an announced launch window or supported systems, but enthusiasts can expect additional details as creation continues.
